The Asbestos Inspector initial course is an EPA/State of Michigan required course in order to perform asbestos sampling and inspection activities in all buildings within the State of Michigan.
This three-day course teaches the requirements of performing asbestos inspections in public, commercial and school buildings through topics that include historic uses of asbestos, health effects, types of asbestos materials, location of asbestos materials in buildings, proper sampling methods, and required documentation and report creation standards.
Upon completion of this course, attendees must submit certificate and fees to the State of Michigan to obtain their State certification as asbestos inspectors, prior to conducting inspection activities. Michigan requires that applicants must be able to document either a) one year of experience in asbestos-related work (25%) or general building inspections related to environmental and health concerns or b) at least five years experience with supervisory experience in general building operations and maintenance.
Michigan OSHA regulations and Federal EPA regulations require that any individual who engages in the testing of materials to determine asbestos content must first become a licensed asbestos inspector. Further, this same act requires that this certification be renewed annually - see Asbestos Inspector in Refresher Training. While the required applications and exam are provided during the training course, the fees for this licensing are not included in the cost of the training course.Download link's provided will expire within a few days, but if you miss the opportunity to download, they will be provided in class.
