This EPA/State of Michigan course is required for all Asbestos Project Designers on an annual basis to maintain their certification. This one-day course will refresh attendees on the detailed requirements for planning, designing and writing specifications for asbestos abatement projects through course topics that include using building drawings and data to design abatement projects, meeting and planning with building owners, designing usage patterns during abatement activities, specification writing, overcoming challenges posed by various response actions, legal liabilities, and industry insurance requirements. Additionally, this course will assist attendees on keeping up with the current changes within the industry and new interpretations and requirements from federal or state regulations. Upon completion of this course, attendees must submit certificate and fees to the State of Michigan to continue their State certification as Asbestos Project Designers.
As per Michigan Public Act 135, outside contractors and their employees who engage in the removal of asbestos from buildings must first become a licensed asbestos abatement worker or supervisor, and work for a licensed asbestos abatement contractor (company). While the required applications and exam are provided during the training course, the fees for this licensing are not included in the cost of the training course.
